ISW Program Updates

We are excited to announce important updates to the Institute for Sexual Wholeness Sex Therapy training program!

For over 20 years, the Institute for Sexual Wholeness has provided high quality sex therapy training to mental health professionals, students in counseling programs, pastors, and medical professionals. During the past three years, we have been listening to student and professor feedback to improve the program.  Acting on this feedback, beginning January 2026, we will be making important changes to the ISW program.

The ISW Program curriculum will continue to provide comprehensive, evidence-based sex therapy training.  Training in assessment and treatment protocols for each sexual dysfunction will remain core to the program. Additional courses will focus on how to adapt the protocols when providing therapy to those with medical issues or trauma backgrounds, as well as how to tailor services for working with clients from other cultural or ethnic backgrounds, and how to work with clients navigating sexual identity or gender identity.  Every course continues to meet the educational standards and training requirements for those choosing to use the ISW courses to pursue ABCST Certification as a Sex Therapist.

We have streamlined the courses, eliminating duplication and decreasing the 240 hour program to 135 hours.  Each course will be delivered through two full days of live training (in person or online) on a Friday and Saturday, combined with 8-13 hours of asynchronous, on-demand video content that students will complete at their convenience after the weekend training.  This format will offer greater flexibility and accessibility – while maintaining our tradition of excellence in clinical training.  Our students frequently comment on the value of attending class in-person; by moving to this new Friday/Saturday schedule, students can focus more deeply during the weekend, while also saving on hotel costs and time away from family and practice.

Those seeking ABCST certification will be able to choose an additional 15 hours of electives. These electives can be CEs through ABCST or other approved providers, including AASECT, or other secular programs of interest.

We look forward to welcoming you – and the next generation of sex therapists -  into this enhanced program of excellent instruction, clinical wisdom, and faith-informed practice as you prepare for or expand your important work in the field of sexuality and sex therapy.
